Delamere

With its own Station Café, serving Snugbury’s farmhouse ice cream, and the Forest Visitor Centre a short walk away, Delamere is your rural escape by train.

It’s a place for the whole family to let off steam and escape the crowds.

And if this haven of woodland and wildlife was not enough, why not try Go Ape?

Delamere Forest, which is Cheshire’s largest woodlands, offers a variety of outdoor pursuits with an extensive Visitor Centre, exhibitions, events and wildlife displays.

Go Ape, the ‘Tree Top Adventure’ – which includes long zip wires, fantastic views of Linmere and a trek through the treetops is located less than five minutes walk from the station.

The 30-mile Sandstone Trail walk cuts through Delamere Forest, once a royal hunting ground in Norman times; it is now a walkers paradise.

Just over 15 minutes from Chester by train, on the pretty Mid Cheshire Line, Delamere is certainly a rural escape by train.
