Ellesmere Port developed when commercial trading commenced along the Shropshire Union Canal and later the Manchester Ship Canal.
The National Waterways Museum portrays the life of boatmen and women and shows how things were when Ellesmere Port was a great dock complex. Many of the original buildings have been preserved together with a unique collection of traditional canal craft.
The Blue Planet Aquarium has the longest moving walkway in the world which passes beneath the waters of a ‘Carribean Reef’. At Blue Planet you are guaranteed to see more types of shark than anywhere else in Britain.
Don't miss shopping in the town centre as well as the thriving market. Ellesmere Port is also home to the the UK's largest outlet centre, Cheshire Oaks, with 145 stores.
Adjacent to Cheshire Oaks is the Coliseum Leisure Park where you can enjoy the thrill of tenpin bowling or catch the latest movie at the 16 screen Vue cinema. There are also eight exciting restaurants and two nightclubs to choose from.
