Davenham Theatre
30th March 2012

Playing from their well rehearsed repertoire, The Steve Oakes Quartet is a fantastic and well received act everywhere they play. Original compositions are interspersed with pieces by likes of John Coltrane, Pat Metheny, Courtney Pine, and Chick Corea. The solos are frequently passionate and intense, while at other times subtle and reflective.
The consummate jazz guitarist, Steve is joined by Gavin Barras (London & Manchester Jazz Festivals) on bass, Ed Kainyek (Jon Thorne’s Oedipus Mingus) on tenor sax and Tim Franks (Jack Bruce, Zoot Money, The Convulsions) on drums.
An eclectic mixture of modern jazz comprising be-bop, latin jazz, funk, and contemporary takes on standards – the perfect way to spend an evening. Don’t miss it.
