Rock Ferry

A Perfect Place to Visit

The best-known part of Rock Ferry is Rock Park, on the banks of the River Mersey, an area of large Victorian villas of sandstone from Storeton quarry.  The houses were built between 1837 and 1850, and were the first early Victorian properties to be designated listed buildings.  The area was designated a conservation area in 1979.

The Royal Mersey Yacht Club was founded over 150 years ago, with Queen Victoria as its first patron.  For almost 160 years the club has promoted yacht racing on the River Mersey and adjoining waters. The club focuses on one design keel-boat racing and enjoys what is virtually the only stretch of sheltered deep water between Scotland and North Wales. There is an intensive programme of racing from May to October.
