Stoke-on-Trent is world famous for its pottery and no visit to the city would be complete without experiencing its unique museums:
Travel back in time at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery and discover the history of the the Potteries, including the world's greatest collection of Staffordshire ceramics and Reginald Mitchell's World War Two Spitfire.
Visit the Gladstone Pottery Museum and discover how bone china tableware was made in the original workshops and giant bottle kilns of the former Gladstone China Works which is now preserved as the last complete Victorian pottery factory in the UK.
Etruria Industrial Museum is the last steam-powered potters' mill in Britain. It includes Jesse Shirley's Bone and Flint Mill, which is 'in steam' seven times a year when historic machinery can be seen working.
Several factories such as Moorcroft and Burleigh offer factory tours and with over 30 pottery factory shops to choose from including the world renowned brands of Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, Portmeirion, Aynsley, Spode and Churchill there is so much to see and do.
The city offers a diverse range of entertainment venues including:
The beautifully restored Art Deco Regent Theatre with its fantastic programme of West End shows
The Victoria Hall offering a programme including famous stand up comedians, bands, shows and wrestling.
The world famous theatre-in-the-round, New Vic Theatre, presenting plays, musicals, concerts, and more.
