The Shropshire Union Canal is a short walk from the village green and creates much interest with a constant stream of boats slipping through the Lift Bridge on their journey to and from Llangollen.
Uniquely, the River Weaver runs under the canal through a Thomas Telford designed aqueduct and alongside the Dusty Miller pub. At this point, the river once provided a millrace for the building when, in years gone by, it was used to mill corn.
This is an ideal area for walking with many footpaths and towpaths to meander through at your leisure. Quiet country lanes provide cyclists with an opportunity to take in the sights at a leisurely pace and the Cheshire Cycleway passes right by the Dusty Miller.
